The Loveable Resident - purpose and theme of redemption

Good Day to All,

I'm Mary Faderan, the author of The Loveable Resident,  the first of a series of books that starts out with the main character, named Mike Oates, MD.

The book is about redemption.  It is something many people are talking about on Twitter, at least.  I think there are many who might be interested. But the story itself is mostly about ambition, and the consequences of what ambition can bring if it were pursued solely and blindly.

Here is the synopsis or "about the book" back cover content:

"The Loveable Resident" is a fictional story about a surgical resident, Mike Oates, who is on a trajectory to win the top position in surgery at a famous American hospital.  He has everything: looks, money, a fast car, an adoring girlfriend, and yet, one day his world goes into deep decline when he commits a fatal error.

Mike Oates tries to get out of the horrible mess he has made of his life by conducting a passionate love affair with Lauren Moore, his beautiful childhood friend and daughter of his lawyer.  He ditches his lover Missy Wright, which in turn causes him to get entangled with a powerful and grasping mob boss.  How Mike's life gets turned back around and his love for Lauren remains unscathed is described in powerfully depicted characters and plot twists in this first novel by Mary Faderan."

I'm going to be posting the book chapter after chapter to make sure everyone gets to read it free of charge.  I need to get your feedback because I think it's a good book and yet somehow it is lost in some way.  Some people are shocked by the first chapters and that makes them leave the book aside.  I am not sure why that is, and what to do about it.

I have learned from my MFA classes that a great book has a great grabber starting chapter and that is what I've done.

I welcome all comments.  Don't be shy.

Mary
